Introduction

Sometimes, the soul craves peace more than the eyes crave views. Our journey from Chandigarh to Sidh Baba Balak Nath Cave Temple, located in the serene hills of Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, was just that—a peaceful, spiritual escape wrapped in scenic beauty.

This wasn’t just a road trip. It was a journey of faith, nature, and self-reflection.

Starting from Chandigarh

We began our journey early morning at 6:00 AM from Chandigarh, aiming to beat the traffic and enjoy the early mountain breeze. The weather was pleasant, and with a flask of chai, good music, and enthusiastic hearts, we hit the road.

Route Taken:
Chandigarh → Ropar → Kiratpur → Bhager (Bhage) → Amarpur → Deotsidh

The drive was smooth, with well-maintained roads and a few hilly patches after Una. The final stretch as we approached Deotsidh turned scenic and hilly—a perfect prelude to the spiritual vibes awaiting us.

Reaching Sidh Baba Balak Nath Temple

Located in Deotsidh, the temple is nestled on a hill, surrounded by forests. The temple is dedicated to Baba Balak Nath, a highly revered saint believed to be an incarnation of Lord Kartikeya.

Pilgrims throng here throughout the year, especially on Sundays, which are considered highly auspicious.

🚩 Important Note:
Women are not allowed to enter the cave but can offer prayers from a designated platform just outside.

The Temple Experience

As soon as we entered the temple premises, a wave of calmness swept over us. Devotees were seen chanting, meditating, and offering rot (a special sweet made of wheat and jaggery) to the Baba.

We climbed the stairs leading to the cave temple. The air was filled with devotional songs and the scent of incense. The energy felt pure and grounding.

We spent some time sitting under the trees, soaking in the positive vibrations. The view from the top was breathtaking—the Shivalik hills rolling out into the horizon.

Local Food & Culture

Outside the temple, small stalls serve local Himachali food like rajma-chawal, kadi-chawal, and sweet halwa. We grabbed a humble plate and relished the flavors while chatting with a few locals who shared fascinating legends of Baba Balak Nath.

Don’t forget to try siddh roti, which is offered as prasad and believed to be very auspicious.

Return Journey

We started our descent by late afternoon, carrying not just souvenirs and prasad but also a deep sense of mental peace. The return journey was quieter—a reflection of the inner calm we found at Deotsidh.
